Do it for yourself!
Sometimes when I create a fitness challenge, I don’t realize until I’m doing it myself that I need it just as much (if not more!) than anyone else! 🤣
If I’m honest, that realization is what led to my career change. 🤔
Five years ago, I was burning the candle at both ends, trying to balance work and life while fitting in fitness at 4 AM or 8 PM. I had always been interested in fitness, but my ego held me back from considering it seriously. Letting go of a master’s degree, tenure, and 15 years of experience to start fresh in an industry with a questionable reputation at times was hard. 😆
Still, I knew it would be worth it if I learned how to care for myself long-term—and helping even one person along the way would be fantastic.
Now, four years into my career change, after a year of self-study and two years running my business, I’m still learning the same lesson: I’m the only one who can prioritize my fitness for me. Even with all the tools and knowledge in my toolkit, I sometimes struggle to apply them. Overdoing it—overtraining, overreaching, or neglecting recovery—often catches up with me. After a month of travel in Japan, a sinus infection forced me to rest for a week.
Because here’s the thing: you can ignore your body all you want…until you can’t. 😆 At some point, it will make its needs known.
Now, I’m taking my own advice to slow down, recover, and ease back into movement in an approachable, progressive way. Six days into the 12 Days of Fitmas, I’ve found it to be the perfect gentle reset—rebuilding mobility and strength while still prioritizing rest during the hectic holiday season. ❤️🩹
How can you meet your needs this season? Can you find balance—avoiding both avoidance and overdoing it? If you need permission to prioritize yourself, consider it granted. 😆
This season is all about joy and relationships—including the one with yourself! 🎄 🥰
