My Vitamin Sea π βοΈ
Just one week ago, I took a solo adventure from Naha, Okinawa (kind of like Oahu in Hawaii) to a teeny tiny place in the middle of nowhere, Aka Island ποΈ
Aka island is home to 300 permanent residents (& many deer and other forms of wildlife!)
It felt like an escape in not just place but also time, as several islanders assisted me in finding one the fish stand to buy lunch at, the single store to get water, and the 1-km solitary path to the single gorgeous beach, where I swam, plopped myself down to read, enjoy my fresh tuna rice bowl, and take a nap in the sunshine! βοΈ ποΈ
While it can take a little planning (Iβd intended to go the the day prior only to learn I needed to buy my ferry ticket a day in advance), and even maybe some courage (I had to get out of my comfort zone a bit to go on a solo adventure to a remote island!), I was reminded that often solitude is what we need most to truly rest, restore, and charge up.
One week later, Iβm missing these kerama blue waters, the sense of being in complete solitude, while also somehow sharing company with someone who is slowly becoming one of my favorite people to be around: me! βΊοΈ πβοΈ
How and where do you charge your batteries when youβre feeling depleted? Do you enjoy time in solitude and silence? Is it comforting or anxiety-inducing to go on a solo adventure? π€
