It's not easy...YET: Why your Mindset (REALLY) Matters!

  • You’re not bad at it. You’re just new.
  • You’re not behind. You’re on your way.
  • You’re not failing. You’re learning.

But how often do we actually let ourselves believe that?

Somewhere along the way, we were taught that struggle means we’re not good enough. That if something doesn’t come easily, it’s not for us. That if we don’t look confident from day one, we shouldn’t even try.

  • ❌ "I'm just not a (math person / gym goer / creative person / etc.)”
  • ❌ “I could never do that.”
  • ❌ “I’m too old to start now.”

These thoughts feel like the truth, but they’re just fixed mindset scripts—ones we can rewrite.

The question is: 🔥 Where in your life are you writing yourself off too soon? 🔥

Maybe it’s fitness. Maybe it’s a career shift. Maybe it’s something as small as speaking up in meetings or trying a hobby without feeling like you have to be “good” at it.

Wherever it is, give yourself permission to wobble. To take up space as a beginner. To believe that growth isn’t just for other people—it’s for you.

💭 Mindful Moment: Where have you caught yourself in a fixed mindset lately? 🤔 (Note that it's very common to have a growth mindset in some areas of life-e.g. work-but fail to transfer it to other domains-e.g. fitness!) Let’s call it out+move forward together.

I first wrote this blog post about growth mindset nearly a decade ago when I was a middle school Spanish teacher—long before I ever imagined becoming a trainer. And yet, every step of the way, the same mindset has fueled my journey. 💪
