七転び八起き
The Japanese proverb “Nana korobi, ya oki” means “Fall down seven times, stand up eight.” ( 七転び八起き )
Ever try something and fail? 🤔
Of course!! We’ve all been there. 😩
It kind sucks and it’s easy to just feel demoralized sometimes and give up. 🫠
The funny thing is, kids don’t do that! When did you last see a toddler fall down and NOT eventually try to get back up again (barring developmental delays)? 🥹
It’s natural to keep trying! Only adults start to stay down, when they feel beat down by life. How can we recapture that childlike tenacity to keep trying and keep pushing forward?
Simply note the failure and get back up. Try again. Stay curious. See what happens!
Last week I was reminded twice that sometimes I need to push hard enough in my workouts to fail an attempt - MULTIPLE TIMES - before I succeed! And that’s OK! In fact, it makes the success that much sweeter when it finally comes. It takes grit to fall down and get back up. It takes a growth mindset to keep pushing, even in the face of failure. 💪 Even more so when you’re met with multiple attempts and multiple failures!
There’s a lesson for life in there somewhere! 😉
