Life Lately: Intentional Pauses to Press Ahead

Somehow we’re already a week into May — how’s your month been so far? 🤔 If it hasn’t felt like the “fresh start” you hoped for, that’s okay. Life doesn’t always wait for our readiness, and sometimes the best we can do is pause, reset, and step forward again.

That’s why I design Build with Becky programs with a 5th “grace week.” It’s not a break — it’s a moment to breathe, revisit your goals, or shift focus to other big rocks of wellbeing (like rest, recovery, connection, mindfulness, or sleep).

As a former teacher, I saw how powerful these pauses can be. My students and I always did better with time to catch up, reflect, and redirect. Same goes for training. If I feel behind now and then, I know my clients probably do too. Why not make space for grace?

This week, that pause showed up right on time. Travel, stress, unexpected life stuff — you name it. Instead of falling off track, I had a built-in fresh start. By design, BWB gives you two: one at the start of each program, and another at the start of each month.

One personal win? I realized my sober-curious journey quietly hit the 7-month mark — and for the first time, I didn’t even clock it. The identity of “someone who doesn’t drink” has just…stuck. That’s the magic I want everyone to feel: when what you’ve been working on simply becomes who you are.

So if life’s felt a little life-y lately — take your moment. Reflect. Reset. After all, sometimes life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. You might just surprise yourself with how far you’ve come!

💪 If strength training is where you're craving support to make a sustainable habit that becomes a long-term identity, the next BWB program drops this weekend. I’d love to see you in there, or, have you share it!😍
