Why I love Anytime Fitness Japan: Gym Etiquette Done Right

Ever walked into a gym and felt instantly at home?🇯🇵

In Japan, collectivist values emphasize respect for communal property. Removing shoes, wiping down equipment, stowing trash/wipes properly— staff model this behavior, and members effortlessly follow the clear example and expectation of gym etiquette at its best, naturally leaving every corner spotless—because here, the gym (& any public space) is truly treated as an extension of your living room. ✌️

The signature AF global key-card access 24/7, plus a commitment to consistent upkeep and regular refreshes across every club, allows you to access a clean, safe space to workout, whenever (and increasingly wherever) you need it in Japan. 💪🔑🧼

Their publicly-traded version of Anytime Fitness, licensed from the US HQ but run locally by Fast Fitness Japan, is, perhaps unsurprisingly, posting faster year-over-year growth than our version in the states and it shows—we now can stay anywhere we want when we go to Japan and find usually not just 1, but sometimes 2-3 or more brand-new, well-appointed AF gyms locations within walking distance!

🚿 Add in modern showers and amenities (even women-only changing rooms!) plus plentiful and secure storage, and you get the best gym experience anytime, anywhere! 😉

Would you work out in a gym in another country? 🤔 And—what’s your top gym etiquette pet peeve? 😅
